   This stuff is very effective against buttercup and a variety of other broad-leaf plants. I have been completely overrun by buttercup, as in there is an entire 1/4 acre of my property that had not a single blade of grass because it was all buttercup. I also have bindweed. (I was thinking maybe I should just move lol) I was looking for something to kill the weeds but keep what I had left of my grass, so I tried the 2,4-d. For a few days after spraying it looked like nothing was happening, and then the buttercup started to wilt. And then it progressively withered away, with the stalks becoming soft and mushy, until it withered away into basically nothing. I didn’t even have to pull up any of the dead stuff, it just kind of disintegrated in a very satisfying way. This took about a week or two, so it was a slow but a very complete death. There were some patches of buttercup in the very thick patches that made it through the wilting stage and then perked back up (I’m guessing they didn’t get saturated enough because they were protected by more buttercup) so I sprayed those a second time and that did the trick. So that 1/4 acre of buttercup became 1/4 acre of dirt since there was nothing else growing there, but it’s been about a year and the grass has come back, with the buttercup gone. Everywhere else that I still had grass, the 2,4-d killed the weeds but not the grass. It’s not impossible to kill grass too, but you have to be very heavy-handed with it. You can apply this stuff pretty liberally without affecting the grass at all.For my bindweed, this stuff was ok as a deterrent but not great at killing it. It would make the bindweed wilt and I would have to keep re-spraying it every 2-3 days to kill it, however it would just come back. I found that Triclopyr is very effective against bindweed though, so mixing that into the 2,4-d would be great if you have a bindweed in addition to other weeds. The 2,4-d has been great at killing dandelions, chickweed, and most everything else that’s been taunting me.
